Tiago C. Peixoto is a political scientist and technologist, currently leading the World Bank’s GovTech work in the EU and Western Balkans. Prior to joining the World Bank, he managed projects and consulted for a number of organizations such as the European Commission, OECD and United Nations. He has been honored as one of the 20 Most Innovative People in Democracy, and as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Digital Government. A recipient of the Louis Brownlow Award of the American Society of Public Administration, Tiago is also a visiting professor at the Centre for Democratic Futures at the University of Southampton. His most recent publication “AI and the Future of Government: Unexpected Effects and Critical Challenges” explores some of the less-acknowledged ways in which artificial intelligence may affect the public sector and its role.
