Tanel carries currently out the political desk functions of the Ukraine Service and is responsible for coordination of Ukraine’s accession and reconstruction related issues. His tasks include also the cooperation with Ukraine on digital and cybersecurity for the whole Eastern Neighbourhood region. He works on Ukraine since 2014, including in the EU Delegation in Kyiv and Support Group for Ukraine of the European Commission. During his tenure at the Support Group for Ukraine, he was responsible for preparing the first digital transformation programme for Ukraine and was behind the development of the cybersecurity support package offered to Ukraine few days after the beginning of the Russian aggression.
